目立てが終わったメゾチント版に、メノウ石のAgataという描画材で、ドローイングして行きます。

私は下絵無しで即興で描きます。

私の人生は失敗ばかりで成り立っているので、今や失敗を恐れない境地までになりました（苦笑）

失敗こそが味であり、その人の個性だとすら思っています。だからどんな人の失敗も愛おしい。そのドラマを正直に作品として残しても愛される世界が、私の想い描く理想の世界です。

I am drawing on a prepared mezzotint plate using an agate tool named Agata.
I draw improvised, without any preliminary sketches.
My life has been built on a series of failures, so I’ve reached a point where I no longer fear making mistakes (laugh).
I actually believe that failures are what add character and reveal a person's true individuality. That’s why I find everyone's missteps so endearing. A world where people can honestly leave their personal dramas behind in their work and still be loved for it—that is the ideal world I dream of.

今日は朝から、メゾチント版のプリント作業をしました。去年は、アトリエを引っ越ししたり、アメリカに行ったりで、版画をする時間がありませんでした。

久しぶりの作業でしたが、道具類も揃っていて、環境づくりも出来ているため、身体を動かし始めると、勝手に版画が出来て行きます。同じ作業の繰り返しは、身体にも染み込んでいるようです。

Spent the morning pulling mezzotint prints in the studio. Between moving studios and traveling to the US last year, I barely had any time for printmaking.
It had been a while, but with my tools ready and setup in place, my hands just took over as soon as I got to work. It’s amazing how deeply rooted the process is in muscle memory—my body just remembered what to do.

アトリエの外に出たら、雨も上がって、すっかり秋になっていました。ヤマボウシ（山法師）の実が赤く色付いています。どの生命も、その生命を生き切っていて尊い。その重みをしっかり受け取りたい。

メゾチント技法を行うために銅板に、ベルソーを使って目立てをしておきます。縦横斜めを何度も繰り返して、ベルベットのような下地を作ります。

To prepare for mezzotint, the copper plate is textured using a rocker (berceau). Repeating this process vertically, horizontally, and diagonally creates a rich, velvety ground.

メゾチント技法で制作している版は、神秘的です。角度と光によって、明と暗が反転します。まるで私たちの人生を、暗示しているかのようなのです。

There is an enigmatic beauty to prints created through the mezzotint technique. As perspective and light shift, light and shadow reverse—as though echoing the duality of human life.
