中高美術教員・学芸員・美大講師のキャリアを経て、1995年より画家としての活動を開始。1998年以降は副業を持たず画業一本で独立。 2007年の東京国立近代美術館による作品収蔵を機にアトリエを構え、2012年に制作環境を求めて長野市へ移転。入院体験を機にWEBサイト構築を自力で習得する。2013年『クィンテット展』（損保ジャパン東郷青児美術館）に際し、ブログを通じた個人支援金システムで約380万円の制作支援を獲得。その成果を結実させ、2016年に横須賀美術館にて企画個展を開催。 これを機に画廊から独立し、2017年にアトリエを軽井沢町へ移転。現在は自社WEBサイト、オンラインショップ、毎月配信のニュースレターを軸に新作を発表・販売し、自立した新しいアーティスト活動を展開中。 【英語版（Artist Biography）】 After working as an art teacher, museum curator, and university lecturer, Yuko Kawada launched her full-time career as a painter in 1995, working independently without secondary employment since 1998. Following the acquisition of her artwork by The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo in 2007, she relocated her studio to Nagano in 2012. During a one-month hospitalization, she taught herself web development. For the Quintet exhibition at the Sompo Japan Museum of Art in 2013, she raised approximately 3.8 million yen in crowdfunding through her blog. This sustained her practice for four years, culminating in a solo exhibition at the Yokosuka Museum of Art in 2016. Following this success, she transitioned to full independence from gallery representation and moved her studio to Karuizawa in 2017. Today, she continues a pioneering, self-sustained practice—releasing and selling new works directly through her website, online store, and monthly newsletter.
